After getting off stage telling my very first story at The Moth, a person in the crowd said to me, “You should take a class with Story District”. Story District has been running shows and workshops in DC for over 20 years. This year, they added a podcast. Considering that my hectic schedule has afforded me few chances to catch a live show, the podcast is a nice way to get a fix of storytelling until then.

What I love about this podcast is that first, it showcases a story told at one of the shows. Then there is an interview of the storyteller about their life and what storytelling is for them. The storytellers are as open in the interview as they are in the stories they tell. The podcast covers the storyteller’s thoughts about the moment that is talked about in the story. As an added bonus, the podcast talks about how the story was crafted. It’s a great way of showing how human the people on stage are. After listening to a few, you can’t help but walk away understanding that ordinary people have extraordinary stories.

See the link below to learn more about the podcast and where to listen to it. You won’t be disappointed.
