The month of May is generally seen as the month that spring really comes alive. That is proving to be especially true for storytelling! Many shows are springing forward with themes about mom, ma, mother, and all the versions of the word. This month’s list is also full of other exciting things such as a fundraiser for Ukrainian Refugees, Toronto International Storytelling Festival, Story Crossroads annual festival, and much, much more. A number of places are trying out in-person and hybrid events. Just a reminder, I only track in-person storytelling that is local to DC, MD, and VA. If your in-person event is online/live-streamed, or your event is totally online, I’ll list that as well. I can’t always get them all, but I’ll get what I can.
While I normally only cover the DC, MD, and VA area, with all shows being online now, I have broaden my scope of storytelling so you can broaden your scope of story listening. With that in mind, do take a look at the Virginia Storytelling Alliance (VASA) Website (https://virginiastorytellingalliance.org/events/) as well as The National Storyteller Network (NSN) (https://storynet.org/calendar/?cid=my-calendar&month=5&yr=2020), The Northeast Storytelling website (https://www.nestorytelling.org/calendar/), and Chicago Storytelling
https://chicago-storytelling.com/events-at-a-glance as they have story shows that I may not have listed myself.
An important note, I have links to shows and the days they will happen, but the info about time, tickets, and other info you are going to have to click on the links, or check out their website or Facebook page. Pay particular attention to the time zone, as these shows are coming from all over the US, and in some cases the world.
Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to check for events. Some events that happen multiple times in a week or month are listed at the bottom.
Happy storylistening!
